It's been another desperately disappointing campaign. Despite huge efforts by James Corbett and Adam Brand on the playing side, and Philip Newfield on the admin side, we have yet again come up well short. We were thoroughly outplayed by a good Hurst Johnian side, but without taking anything away from their victory, it is unacceptable that we are currently so clearly unable to field a competitive XI at this level. The big question is why this should be so at a time when we are told that school cricket is as strong as it has ever been.
In the bitter aftermath of a big loss like this, it is difficult to retain perspective, but it does feel that the time has come for fresh ideas if OMT is ever to regain the impetus to justify its place in this prestigious competition.
