There was no contentious business on the agenda and the meeting largely concentrated on new competition rules and playing regulations which have been given a major update. The playing regulations are now closer to the ODI rules for 50 over cricket. Any remaining differences are going to be considered for suitability in the coming months. Duckworth Lewis is on the agenda but not, I sense, likely to be introduced for a while yet.
A proposal was considered to give each side a veto over replays in the first two rounds. However, this was defeated on the grounds that it would inevitably encourage weaker schools to use their veto, so the status quo remains in the event that a match cannot be completed on the scheduled date.
There were serious problems with the pitch at Wimbledon used for the final this year, so a decision has been taken to stage the 2016 final at the magnificent ground at Arundel. There was some concern about the location being far away for many schools, but the importance of staging the final on an excellent cricket wicket was agreed to be the priority.
Finally, the draw for 2016 was held at the conclusion of the meeting. OMT has got a home draw for the first two rounds. We meet Bradfield Waifs on 12 June and, if we can negotiate that fixture successfully, we then play Rugby or Marlborough on 26 June.
