After the match, OMT Team Manager Philip
Newfield said:
“Sport
is a great leveller. From the high of our fine victory at Uppingham 2 weeks ago,
OMT were made to appreciate this truism with the very heavy defeat in the
Quarter-final at Tonbridge. Against one of the strongest teams remaining in the
competition we were unable to play to the required standard and intensity to
which we aspire. Fielding for 3 hours 40
minutes in a temperature well in excess of 30C after losing the toss, sapped
our strength and undoubtedly affected our batting. OMT are of course hugely disappointed to exit
the competition via such a heavy defeat, but it has been a fine achievement to
reach the Quarter-final for which our captain Jawwad Rasheed and our players
must take much credit. We aim to come
back strongly and competitively in 2014.”
