The Middlesex County Cricket website reports that Ollie Wilkin has become the second member of our current Cricketer Club playing squad (after Ravi Patel) to join the Middlesex staff.
Middlesex CCC are pleased to announce that Ollie Wilkin has joined the club on a two year summer contract. Wilkin, 19, has played for Middlesex youth teams and is currently at Loughborough University, where he will play during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. When University cricket finishes he will join up with Middlesex.
As well as impressing at Loughborough University Wilkin had an excellent season with Ealing, who he helped win the Middlesex County Cricket League for a record seventh consecutive year. The all-rounder also helped Ealing win a National T20 tournament.
Commenting on the signing of Wilkin Middlesex’s Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser, said: “Ollie was the outstanding young cricketer in Middlesex League cricket in 2011 and impressed me in the two second eleven games he played for the club last season. Quality all-rounders are rare and Ollie’s performances with both bat and ball last summer suggest he has the potential to be such a cricketer.
As a county Middlesex CCC want and need to develop its own players, and to do that we need to give the best young cricketers within the county the chance to show their talent. The recent signings of Ollie, Ravi Patel, Adam Rossington and Gurjit Sandhu highlight this requirement. Hopefully they will all have long successful careers with the club."
